anāhatacakra

(‘unbeaten sound plexus’)

It is one of the six centres of psychic energy mentioned in the works on Haṭha-yoga. This centre is called anāhatacakra since the anāhata sound (sound produced without the beating of two objects) is heard there. It is situated in the region of the heart and is said to have twelve petals of red colour.
