Bharaṇī

(‘that which bears’)

Bharaṇī is the second of the 27 nakṣatras depicted in the Hindu calendar. It is sometimes called as “Apabharaṇī” also. Stars 35, 39 and 41 in the Meṣa or Aries group comprise this nakṣatra. In the astrological treatises, its effect is considered as malefic.
